1. Agreement

By creating an account on MOTMate (motmate.net), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Service Description

MOTMate provides vehicle management tools including MOT, tax, and insurance expiry reminders, DVSA recall alerts, service history storage, and shareable vehicle reports. The service is provided on a subscription basis after a 14-day free trial.

3. Account Responsibilities

• You must provide accurate information when creating your account
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure
• You must be at least 18 years old to use MOTMate
• One person per account — accounts are not transferable

4. Subscription and Payments

• MOTMate costs £6 per month, billed monthly via Stripe
• New accounts receive a 14-day free trial — no payment details required to start
• You can cancel anytime from your Settings page — access continues until the end of your billing period
• No refunds are issued for partial months

5. Reminders and Alerts

MOTMate sends reminders based on the dates stored in your account. While we make every effort to ensure accuracy:

• Reminders are provided as a convenience and do not replace your legal obligation to maintain a valid MOT, tax, and insurance
• We are not liable for missed reminders due to incorrect dates, email delivery issues, or technical failures
• DVLA and DVSA data is provided by government APIs and may not always be up to date

6. Data and Privacy

Your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use MOTMate for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access other users' data
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service
• Upload malicious files or content

8. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect access. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime.

9. Limitation of Liability

MOTMate is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to fines, penalties, or costs resulting from expired MOT, tax, or insurance.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
