MOTMate ("we", "us", "our") operates the website motmate.net. We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We collect the following information when you use MOTMate:

• Account details: name, email address, mobile number
• Vehicle data: registration number, MOT/tax/insurance expiry dates, make, model, colour, mileage
• Service history: uploaded documents (PDFs, images), service dates, garage names, costs
• Payment data: processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers
• Usage data: login timestamps and feature usage for service improvement

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide MOT, tax, and insurance reminders via email and/or SMS
• To check for DVSA safety recalls affecting your vehicles
• To look up vehicle details from the DVLA
• To process subscription payments via Stripe
• To enable shareable vehicle history links you create

4. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following processors, only as needed to deliver our service:

• Supabase — database and authentication hosting
• Stripe — payment processing
• Resend — email delivery
• Twilio — SMS delivery
• DVLA — vehicle data lookup (registration numbers only)
• DVSA — safety recall checks (vehicle make/model only)

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data, vehicle records, and uploaded files are permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing
• Data portability

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. For other requests, email enquiries@motmate.net.

7. Cookies

MOTMate uses only essential cookies for authentication (session tokens). We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.

8. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Database access is restricted by row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email.
